Rising Japan Equity, Inc. (hereinafter, “the Company”) has formulated and will abide by the following basic policy on the protection of personal information (Privacy Policy) in order to properly safeguard personal information and specific personal information and thereby secure the trust of shareholders, fund investors, investee companies.

1. When handling personal information and specific personal information, the Company and executives, employees of the Company will abide by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the Act on the Use of Numbers to Identify a Specific Individual in Administrative Procedures, other relevant laws and ordinances, and guidelines and other standards issued by relevant ministries and agencies (hereinafter collectively referred to as “applicable laws”).

2. The Company will use personal information and specific personal information within the scope required to achieve the following purposes of use:
1) Personal information

  1. To perform tasks relating to the establishment, operation, and management of funds.
  2. To identify and research potential investee companies and make decisions concerning investments
  3. To manage investee companies and provide management guidance and training
  4. To exit deals
  5. To properly perform outsourced tasks in cases where, for example, all or part of the processing of personal information has been outsourced from another business operator
  6. To properly and smoothly perform other transactions with customers
  7. To serve as a means of administrative communication for business purposes
  8. To secure human and other business resources required for the Company’s business

2) Specific information on executives and employees (including dependent family members)

  1. To perform administration relating to tax withholding, pursuant to the Income Tax Act
  2. To perform administration relating to personal residence tax, pursuant to the Local Tax Act
  3. To perform administration relating to employment insurance, pursuant to the Employment Insurance Act
  4. To perform administration relating to health insurance (application-related/benefit-related), pursuant to the Health Insurance Act
  5. To perform administration relating to employees’ pension insurance (application-related), pursuant to the Employees’ Pension Insurance Act

3) Specific personal information on persons other than executives and employees

  1. To perform administration relating to the preparation of payment records for remuneration, fees, etc., pursuant to the Income Tax Act
  2. To perform administration relating to the preparation of payment records of dividends, distributions of surplus, and interest on guaranty capital, pursuant to the Income Tax Act
  3. To perform administration relating to the preparation of payment records for real-estate usage fees etc., pursuant to the Income Tax Act
  4. To perform administration relating to the preparation of payment records for consideration for transfer of real estate etc., pursuant to the Income Tax Act

3. The Company will not disclose or supply personal data to a third party without the prior consent of the individual concerned, unless required or permitted to do so under applicable laws. Furthermore, the Company will not disclose or supply specific personal information regardless of whether prior consent has been obtained from the individual concerned, unless required or permitted to do so under applicable laws.

4. The Company will obtain personal information and specific personal information using lawful and fair means. Furthermore, the Company will not obtain, use, or supply to a third party personal information requiring special care or sensitive personal information unless permitted to do so under applicable laws.

5. The Company will endeavor to prevent leakage, loss, falsification, unauthorized access with respect to personal data and specific personal information, and will manage it appropriately after taking whatever steps are necessary to ensure that the said information is administered securely.

6. In the event that the Company outsources the handling of personal data and specific personal information to a third party, the Company will properly supervise the said third party as necessary.

7. The Company will ensure that its executives and employees are informed, and remain aware of, the importance of compliance with applicable laws, and will continuously endeavor to review and improve programs relating to legal compliance, including compliance with this Privacy Policy.

8. The Company will respond without delay to any requests from individuals for the disclosure, alteration, cease of use of their personal data and specific personal information possessed by the Company, including requests for the disclosure of records on the third-party provisions.
